Chatham Central tied its single-season wins record

Southern Durham 40, MU Sports Academy (Canada) 0

Senior quarterback Jonathan Dillon was responsible for three of the Spartans’ scores, including a 10-yard pass to junior Jayden Bowman, a 20-yard run and a 36-yard pass to Bowman on a flea flicker. Senior running back Damien Hayes rushed for two touchdowns.

Southern Durham scored all its points in the first three quarters. The Spartans’ defense notched their first shut out of the season.

With the win, Southern Durham improved to 3-2.

Orange 43, Northern Durham 22

Junior quarterback Jackson Moody, who ran in a touchdown on a quarterback sneak, completed two passes for two scores to Bradsher and senior Preston Utley. Junior Mason Stubbs also rushed for a touchdown.

Orange held a 24-6 lead at halftime, and it grew to 37-6 early in the fourth quarter. Northern Durham’s offense, which finished the night with 382 total yards, came alive too late. The Knights’ quarterback Amir Liles threw all three of his touchdown passes to senior Demirion Kelly, who ended the game with nine catches for 138 yards.

The Panthers improved to 2-3, their best five-game start since 2023.

Northern Durham slid to 2-3 after taking its third loss in a row.

Jordan-Matthews 28, East Chapel Hill 21

Junior Lennox Mordecai had his hand in three touchdowns to lead the Jets to victory Friday.

Two unanswered touchdown from East Chapel Hill quarterback Leo George — the first being an 11-yard pass to senior Grady LeGuillon and the other being a 12-yard run — tied the game at halftime. However, Jordan-Matthews continued to find success running the ball in the second half, and its defense forced multiple punts to close out the win.

Jordan-Matthews improved to 3-3 on the season. East Chapel Hill fell to 1-3.
