Boys’ Player of the Week: Angel Hernandez, Southern Durham soccer
Freshman goalkeeper Angel Hernandez rose to the occasion in a 0-0 draw against Jordan on Sept. 2. Hernandez recorded five saves and secured a clean sheet, putting together one of the best games of his young high school career. He had to step into the starting role this season after senior goalkeeper Sean Centeno suffered an injury in the Spartans’ first game.
Girls’ Player of the Week: Cameron Bublitz, East Chapel Hill volleyball
Junior outside hitter Cameron Bublitz had a huge night against Orange on Sept. 2. Bublitz logged 16 kills, two aces, two blocks and 12 digs in a 3-1 win. The Loyola University Chicago commit leads the team with 3.4 kills per set and 131 total kills on the year.
