Girls’ volleyball
Cedar Ridge evened the odds in a 3-1 win over Seaforth, making the race for the Big Seven 4A/5A title even more interesting with a few more conference games left to play. Both teams are now tied atop the conference standings with 6-1 records heading into next week.
Before the big showdown, Seaforth swept Carrboro, and Cedar Ridge swept Orange earlier last week.
East Chapel Hill swept Chapel Hill in three close sets Tuesday. Two days later, the Wildcats won their sixth straight game over Northern Durham 3-0, holding the Knights to no more than 12 points in each set.
After being swept by Eastern Alamance early lasr week, Riverside dominated Southern Durham 3-0. Northern Durham also took down the Spartans in a sweep.
Research Triangle is on a four-game win streak after three sweeps over Neuse Charter, Raleigh Charter and Voyager Academy.
Hillside took down J.F. Webb in five sets Monday, securing its fourth win in its last five games.
Woods Charter stretched its win streak to eight with a sweep over The Hawbridge School. The Wolves have not conceded a set since Aug. 18 (third game of the season).
Chatham Central won consecutive games for the second time this season by defeating Winston-Salem Prep 3-0 and North Stokes 3-1.
Excelsior Classical Academy started this past week with a win over Eno River Academy 3-1. The Flying Lions fell to Voyager Academy 3-1.

Boys’ soccer
Chapel Hill began this past week with a 5-0 win over Durham Academy in which five different players logged a score. The Tigers followed the clean sheet with a 2-2 draw with Middle Creek.
Southern Durham continued to avoid losses with close wins and draws. The Spartans defeated Orange 2-1 and Cedar Ridge 3-2. They tied with Falls Lake 2-2 Tuesday.
Research Triangle bounced back from a 2-1 double overtime loss to Franklin Academy with a 2-1 win over East Wake Academy.
NCSSM-Durham extended its win streak to four with a 6-1 win against East Wake Academy and a 7-1 win over Roxboro Community.
Seaforth edged Cedar Ridge 3-2 in its Big Seven 4A/5A conference opener.
Carrboro defeated South Granville 4-1 and followed that with a 2-0 double overtime victory over Orange.
After a 2-0 win against Ascend Leadership, Woods Charter extended its win streak to four by defeating Clover Garden 4-1 in overtime.
Excelsior Classical Academy dominated Eno River Academy 6-1 and Hillside 5-2. Voyager Academy beat the Flying Lions 2-1.

Girls’ flag football
Northwood moved to 5-1 after defeating Lee County 33-0 and Southern Lee 33-13. The Chargers have scored at least 30 points in four games this season.
Jordan-Matthews outscored Central Carolina Academy 63-6 in a double header Monday. The Jets fell to Asheboro 7-0 later in the week.
Southern Durham ended its losing streak with blowout wins over Northern Durham (27-0) and Durham School of the Arts (50-0).
Riverside is 4-0 after beating Hillside 28-0 and Roxboro Community 14-6.
Girls’ tennis
Research Triangle moved to 12-0 on the year with two 6-0 wins over Roxboro Community and a 9-0 victory over Raleigh Charter.
Riverside won four singles matches to edge Chapel Hill 5-4. The Pirates followed that with a 7-2 win over Northern Durham, in which they won six singles matches and the No. 1 doubles match.
Carrboro took down Orange 7-2, winning all six singles matches and the No. 1 doubles match.
Cedar Ridge extended its win streak to four with two dominant wins over J.F. Webb and a 5-1 victory over Eno River Academy.
With its 7-2 win against Durham School of the Arts, Seaforth has won five of its last six matches.
Durham Academy beat East Chapel Hill 5-3.
Chatham Charter’s win streak grew to six with wins over Cornerstone Charter and Clover Garden both by scores of 7-2.

East Chapel Hill finished first in the Big Seven Conference Match No. 4 at Occoneechee Golf Club with a score of 135 (30 over par) Monday. Chapel Hill finished second, followed by Orange, Seaforth, Carrboro, Cedar Ridge and Durham School of the Arts in that order. The Wildcats also won the Big Seven Conference Match No. 3 at the same course on the same day.
NCSSM-Durham tied for first with Raleigh Charter in the Diamond Nine Match No. 3 at Umstead Pines Golf and Swim Club Tuesday. Research Triangle finished fourth in the competition.
Eno River Academy won a Triangle North 1A/2A conference competition Monday with a score of 154 (46 over par).
